Múm

Múm, an Icelandic electronic music band, was formed in 1997 in Faxa Bay, Reykjavík. The original members were Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason, who were later joined by twin sisters Gyða and Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir. Múm's music is characterized by soft vocals, electronic glitch beats and effects, and a variety of traditional and unconventional instruments. The band released their debut album Yesterday Was Dramatic – Today Is OK in 1999 through TMT Records. Most of the tracks were part of the album Remixed (2001). Following this, they released the remix album Please Smile My Noise Bleed (2001). Their second original full-length album, Finally We Are No One, was released in 2002 on FatCat Records, followed by Summer Make Good (2004), and the EP Dusk Log (2004). In 2007, Múm toured the East Coast of the US with German musician Volker "Hauschka" Bertelmann and released their fourth album, Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy. The band continued to release albums including Sing Along to Songs You Don't Know (2009), Smilewound (2013), and History of Silence (2025). Notable collaborations include a track with Kylie Minogue titled "Whistle" released in 2013. Múm's music has been featured in various soundtracks, including the film Wicker Park.
