McKenzie Ashton Ellis, born Marchâ¯12â¯1995 in Oklahoma City, United States, is an American singer and songwriter who performs under the name Mothica. She began producing music at 18, learning Ableton and releasing the EP Mythic in 2015, which included the track "No One" that reached Numberâ¯6 on the U.S. Viral Spotify Charts. Her first single "Starchild" amassed 100,000 streams on SoundCloud within 24 hours. In 2020 she released the album Blue Hour, followed by Forever Fifteen in 2021, and her second studio album Nocturnal in 2022; the deluxe version expanded its reach. Mothica gained viral attention through TikTok, with "VICES" topping iTunes in Juneâ¯2020 and generating over five million views. She collaborated with artists such as DeathbyRomy on "Soul Sucker ptâ¯2" and Scene Queen on "The Rapture (But it's Pink)". In 2024 she released her third album Kissing Death. Somewhere in Between EP followed in 2026.
