Miserable Faith

Miserable Faith (痛仰乐队) was founded in Beijing in July 1999 by vocalist Gao Hu, guitarist Song Jie, guitarist Tian Ran, bassist Zhang Jing, harmonica player Qi Jing, and drummer Chi Gongwei. The group first appeared with the 2001 album This's a Problem, a heavy metal‑inspired release that introduced the band’s aggressive sound. In 2006 they issued the EP 不, followed by the 2008 album 不要停止我的音樂, which marked a shift toward a more folk‑rock orientation. The 2010 EP 盛开 continued this evolution, and the 2017 album 今日青年 presented a full‑band rock alternative style; its single "支離" was released on 20 January 2017. Throughout their career Miserable Faith signed with Beijing Scream Records and later Modern Sky, toured extensively across China, and achieved recognition at the 2009 MIDI Awards where 不要停止我的音樂 was named Best Album of the Year. The band maintained a steady presence on the independent rock scene until 2019, when they released "好梦" on 16 December 2019. Miserable Faith’s catalog reflects a progression from metalcore to folk‑rock to alternative rock, marking them as a significant contributor to China’s contemporary rock landscape.
