Miserable Faith (çä»°ä¹é) was founded in Beijing in Julyâ¯1999 by vocalist Gao Hu, guitarist Song Jie, guitarist Tian Ran, bassist Zhang Jing, harmonica player Qi Jing, and drummer Chi Gongwei. The group first appeared with the 2001 album This's a Problem, a heavy metalâinspired release that introduced the bandâs aggressive sound. In 2006 they issued the EP ä¸, followed by the 2008 album ä¸è¦åæ¢æç鳿¨, which marked a shift toward a more folkârock orientation. The 2010 EP çå¼ continued this evolution, and the 2017 album 仿¥éå¹´ presented a fullâband rock alternative style; its single "æ¯é¢" was released on 20â¯Januaryâ¯2017. Throughout their career Miserable Faith signed with Beijing Scream Records and later Modern Sky, toured extensively across China, and achieved recognition at the 2009 MIDI Awards where ä¸è¦åæ¢æç鳿¨ was named Best Album of the Year. The band maintained a steady presence on the independent rock scene until 2019, when they released "好梦" on 16â¯Decemberâ¯2019. Miserable Faithâs catalog reflects a progression from metalcore to folkârock to alternative rock, marking them as a significant contributor to Chinaâs contemporary rock landscape.
