MercyMe

A Christian rock and evangelical contemporary Christian music band formed in Edmond, Oklahoma, USA, in 1994, MercyMe was formed when singer Bart Millard met pianist James Philip Bryson (who left the band in 2014). The band was joined by guitarist Michael John Scheuchzer, who was joined by another guitarist, Barry Graul, in 2003, bassist Kendall Combes (replaced in 1998 by Nathan Cochran) and drummer Trent Austin (replaced in 1997 by Robin Troy Shaffer). Signed to INO Records in 2001, MercyMe released the album Almost There the same year. At a rate of one album every two years, MercyMe's fame grew as it accumulated hits in the Christian music charts. From "I Can Only Imagine" (2001) to "Almost Home" (2019), via "Move" (2011) and "Greater" (2014), MercyMe has racked up nearly twenty number-one hits. In 2021, the band celebrates its 25th anniversary with the release of its tenth official studio album, Inhale (Exhale), followed by Always Only Jesus (2022) and Wonder & Awe (2025).
