Members of Mayday was a German techno band formed in 1991 by DJ WestBam and music producer Klaus Jankuhn. The duo initially produced the anthem for the annual Mayday techno event, with their first notable releases being "The Mayday Anthem" and "Forward Ever Backward Never" in 1992. These tracks were released as solo singles by WestBam but marked the beginning of their collaborative efforts under the name Members of Mayday. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Members of Mayday released several albums and EPs, including Religion EP (1993), Mayday Rave Olympia Live EP (1994), Members Only (1995), and Sonic Empire (1997). "Sonic Empire" became one of their most successful tracks, reaching Number 1 in Germany, number 15 in Austria, number 7 in Switzerland, and number 59 in the UK. The band's chart success continued with multiple singles entering the German charts, including ten that reached the Top 20. Notable albums include Anthems of the Decade 1991 - 2001 (2001), Culture Flash (2002), and Team X-Treme (2004). In February 2014, WestBam announced his departure from Mayday due to irreconcilable differences with the event organizers i-Motion, effectively ending the Members of Mayday project.
