Meg Frampton and Dia Frampton, born April 3, 1985 and October 2, 1987 in the United States, formed the American rock duo Meg & Dia in 2004. The sisters began performing locally, drawing on their fatherâs extensive record collection and their own acoustic songwriting. Their debut selfâreleased album Our Home Is Gone (2005) introduced the duoâs strippedâdown sound and led to tours with acts such as Limbeck and The Format. In 2006, the band signed with Doghouse Records and released Something Real, featuring the breakout single "Monster", which gained exposure on the TMNT soundtrack and earned a nomination for an MTVU Viral Woodie Award. The following year they signed with Warner Bros. and issued Here, Here and Here (2009) through Sire Records, adding experimental instrumentation and guest vocals from Tom Higgenson. After a brief period of independent releases-including the EP It's Always Stormy (2010) and the album Cocoon (2011)-the group disbanded in October 2012 to pursue solo careers. In 2019, the Frampton sisters reunited for the Vans Warped Tour and released the album happysad (2019) via Pure Noise Records, reaffirming their presence in the alternative rock scene.
