Manticora, a Danish progressive power metal band, was formed in 1996 in Hvidovre by Lars F. Larsen, Kristian H. Larsen, and Mads Volf. In 1997, they released their first EP, Dead End Solution. The band signed with Intromental Management and Black Lotus Records in 1998 and released their album, Roots of Eternity, in 1999. Notable albums include Hyperion (2002), 8 Deadly Sins (2004), and the two-part series The Black Circus Part I - Letters (2006) and The Black Circus Part 2 - Disclosure (2007). Manticora has toured extensively across Europe and the United States, collaborating with bands such as Angra. Their album Safe was released in 2010. The band has been signed to Locomotive Music.
