Maabo

Composed by Aïssatou (Mia) and Elhadji Mbacké Guissé (No Face), a couple in real life, Maabo was born as a musical duo in Senegal in 2015. After their wedding, they chose to join forces artistically and showcase their complicity against a backdrop of afropop and wolofbeat, a musical style they helped shape. Titles such as "Reine xol" (2015) and "Yako waral " (2017) have garnered millions of listeners. The couple's singing, in Wolof, Poular, French and English, seduced audiences, who turned out in force for the release of a new hit: "Namel ", released in 2017. Maabo then worked on an album, Jojofbeats unveiled in 2019, and embarked on international tours, including a date in Paris in June 2019. Consecrated in Senegal, where they are dubbed the "Senegalese Amadou and Mariam", the couple seem to be flying towards a successful career with the confirmation of "Yin Yang", a new hit presented in 2022. However, Aïssatou and Elhadji Mbacké Guissé surprisingly announced their divorce the same year, ending their musical partnership at the same time. While No Face continued the Maabo adventure without his ex-wife, the latter returned to the music scene a few months after the separation under her own name, Mia, with whom she unveiled the single "Idda" at the end of 2022.
