Gloria Lavern Collins, known professionally as Lyn Collins, is an American soul singer born on June 12, 1948. She began her recording career at age 14 and initially played with Charles Pike & The Scholars before sending a demo tape to James Brown. After working with Brown's touring lineup, she released her first single "Wheel of Life" in 1971 on King Records. In 1972, Collins signed with Polydor and People Records, where she recorded the gospel-style song "Think (About It)", produced by James Brown. This track became her biggest solo hit and is notable for its widespread sampling in hip-hop and drum and bass music. Her debut album Think (About It) was released on September 27th of that year. Collins also recorded the funk song "Rock Me Again and Again and Again and Again and Again and Again" in 1974, and her album Check Me Out If You Don't Know Me by Now in 1975. She sang backup for Dionne Warwick and Rod Stewart. In February 2005, Collins embarked on her first solo tour across Europe. Shortly after returning from this tour, she died from a seizure related to cardiac arrhythmia in Pasadena, California, on March 13, 2005. Posthumously, the live album Mama Feelgood was released in October 2006 by Hi&Fly Records.
