B.T. Express, originally named Brooklyn Transit Express, were an American funk and soul music group formed in 1974 from members of the King Davis House Rockers. The band included Richard "Rick" Thompson on lead guitar and vocals, Bill Risbrook on tenor saxophone and flute, Terrell Wood on drums, Barbara Joyce Lomas on vocals, Carlos Ward on alto sax and woodwinds, Dennis Rowe on percussion, and Louis Risbrook (later known as Jamal Rasool) on bass. Their breakthrough came with the single "Do It ('Til You're Satisfied)", released in August 1974 under Scepter Records, which reached the Top 10 on the US charts and number one on the R&B charts. B.T. Express released an album per year through 1978, but faced challenges when Scepter Records experienced business difficulties in 1976. The group then signed with Columbia Records. Michael Jones, later known as Kashif Saleem, who joined the band as a keyboardist, died on 25 September 2016. B.T. Express disbanded in 1987, leaving behind a notable discography that includes several gold-certified releases and significant contributions to the funk and disco genres.
