Los Fabulosos Cadillacs

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, formed in Buenos Aires in 1984 by Mario Siperman, Aníbal Rigozzi, Vicentico, and Flavio Cianciarulo, began as a ska outfit with a youthful enthusiasm for music. Their first public appearance was at a school event, followed by the release of the debut single "Yo quiero morirme acá" and the 1986 album Bares y fondas, which introduced the group to the Argentine underground scene. In 1987 the band signed with Sony Music and issued Yo te avisé!!, a double‑platinum record that expanded their audience to Chile and Peru. Subsequent releases-El ritmo mundial (1988), El satánico Dr. Cadillac (1989), Volumen V (1990), and El León (1992)-showed a blend of ska, reggae, and Latin rhythms, with "Matador" from the 1993 compilation Vasos vacíos becoming a commercial hit that earned an MTV Video Award in 1994. The 1995 album Rey azúcar, produced by Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, reached platinum status in Argentina and received a Gardel Award in 1998. After a brief hiatus beginning in 2002, the group regrouped in 2008, releasing La luz del ritmo and touring internationally. Their 2016 concept album La salvación de Solo y Juan continued their legacy, and they performed at major festivals such as Lollapalooza Argentina in 2023.
