Los Cafres

Los Cafres are a reggae band from Buenos Aires who emerged in the 1990s and with their distinctive sound became pioneers of reggae fusion music in Argentina. They formed in the late 1980s but had a disappointing start to their career due to a lack of venues prepared to book an Argentinian reggae band. As a result the band went into a short hiatus before returning to the music business in the early 1990s and re-launching themselves. From their early days the band have always taken pride in creating an authentic reggae sound and to this end worked with producers such as Errol Brown at the Tuff Gong studios in Jamaica when creating their early material. The band struggled hard to gain acceptance and it wasn't until their album 'Who Gives More?' released in 2004 that the band gained the recognition they deserved. The lead single from the album 'If Love Falls' was a major hit in Argentina and helped establish the band's international reputation as serious and credible reggae artists. The band have continued to build an audience for their music and have developed a large fan base throughout Latin America, particularly in Peru, Ecuador and Mexico.
