Tony Colman, born 28â¯Aprilâ¯1961 in London, England, is the sole creative force behind Londonâ¯Elektricity, an electronic music project that emerged from the early 1990s drum'n'bass scene. After coâfounding Hospital Records, Colman released his debut single "Pull The Plug" in 1998, establishing a sound that blended soulful vocals, live instrumentation, and complex breakbeats. In 1998 the duo released the album Pull the Plug, followed by Billion Dollar Gravy in 2003, which incorporated a growing live band and marked the transition to full band performances. The 2005 album Power Ballads showcased collaborations with jazz singer Liane Carroll and solidified the groupâs reputation for highâenergy shows, although the band announced no future live plans in Decemberâ¯2005. Subsequent studio releasesâSyncopated City (2008), Yikes! (2011), and Are We There Yet? (2015)âcontinued to expand the catalogue, while live recordings such as Live At The Scala (2006) documented the group's dynamic stage presence. In 2019 Colman released Building Better Worlds, and in 2023 he founded Fast Soul Music, releasing Lunatics and Legends in 2025 with a host of collaborators. Throughout his career, Londonâ¯Elektricity earned a BBCâ¯1Xtra Xtra Bass award (2007) and a Best Podcast award at the BT Digital Music Awards (2014), cementing its influence within the drum'n'bass community.
