Linda Perry

Linda Perry (born 15 April 1965 in Springfield, Massachusetts) is an American singer‑songwriter, guitarist, keyboardist, bassist, and producer whose career began in San Francisco’s underground scene. She first gained worldwide attention as the lead singer and primary songwriter of 4 Non Blondes, whose 1993 single "What's Up?" topped charts in ten countries and propelled the band’s debut album Bigger, Better, Faster, More! to 1.5 million U.S. sales. Linda Perry released her solo albums In Flight (1996) and After Hours (1999) before turning to production in the early 2000s, co‑writing and producing hit tracks such as "Get the Party Started" for P!nk and "Beautiful" for Christina Aguilera, the latter earning a 2004 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. She founded Custard Records and later We Are Hear, signing artists like Natasha Bedingfield and Imogen Heap, and contributed to projects for Adele, Gwen Stefani, and Dolly Parton. In 2015 she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and her collaborative single "A Beautiful Noise" (2020) helped rally voters for the U.S. election. She composed the soundtracks for the films Kid 90 (2021), Citizen Penn (2021), Luckiest Girl Alive (2022) and To Leslie (2022). In 2026, she returned with the album Let It Die Here.
