Lime Spiders were an Australian punk rock and garage rock band from Sydney formed in 1979. The ensemble was founded by lead vocalist Michael Blood. They achieved professional recognition in 1983 after winning a Battle of the Bands competition, which led to a record deal with Green Records. Their recording career began with the debut extended play 25th Hour (1983). Following a stabilized lineup in 1983 featuring bassist Tony Bambach and drummer Richard Lawson, they released the track âSlave Girlâ (1984), which reached the top 100 on the national charts and was the number one independent single in Australia for that year. Their debut studio album, The Cave Comes Alive! (1987), reached number 54 on the Kent Music Report Albums Chart. The recording featured the track âWeirdo Libidoâ (1987), which reached number 48 on the singles chart and appeared in the film Young Einstein (1988). The ensemble disbanded in 1990 but resumed activity for various reunions between 1992 and 2023. Blood announced the final dissolution of the group in 2023.
