Formed in Culiacán, Sinaloa in 2014, La Ventaja is a regional Mexican group that built its name on guitar-driven corridos and norteño songs before expanding into a broader mezcla of banda sinaloense and sierreño styles. Led by singer and songwriter Irvin Sánchez, the band moved from the local Sinaloa circuit to the wider Mexican market with the release of the album Guitarras in 2016, which showcased early favorites such as “Palabra de Hombre” and “La Paloma de Acero.” They consolidated their presence in the corridos scene with Culiacán Sigue Rifando in 2018 and its follow-up Culiacán Sigue Rifando, Vol. 2 in 2019, whose tracks “El Adiós del Ranas” and “Javier Díaz” became key calling cards. In 2020 La Ventaja entered a particularly prolific phase, issuing the studio albums Llegamos para Quedarnos, Norteño and Vieja Escuela alongside the live sets Con Tololoche: Las Favoritas de los Patrones (En Vivo) and Grabaciones Con Servando, Vol. 2 (En Vivo), while releasing singles like “Los Inadaptados,” “Noche de Parranda” and “El Comerciante.” The 2021 album Sin Miedo al Éxito and the collaborative single “Déjenme Hacer Dinero” featuring Marca Registrada, La Ventaja & Código FN marked their entrance into the mainstream Regional Mexican ecosystem, followed in 2022 by the corrido-heavy album ALVentajazo and collaborations such as “El Jefe de Jefes” and “El Consentido.” In 2023 the group leaned further into live projects with En Vivo Pá Las Plebes, Culiacán Deluxe, Culiacán Deluxe 2 and Las Pisteables (Primera Ronda) [En Vivo], and in 2024 they issued the studio album Leyendas plus videos for songs like “Tu Forma de Ser,” “Mi Fantasía” and “Wakala.” In 2025 La Ventaja focused on standalone singles including “Peliculón,” “Fiesta en Michoacán,” “Locos,” “El Malcriado,” “Subiendo a Mi Ritmo” and “Hasta el Amanecer,” while “Sin Fin de Lucro” became one of their biggest tracks and reached number 34 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart.
