Krewella

Combining glorious, euphoric hooks with house bangers and positive, passionate songwriting, siblings Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf turned EDM outfit Krewella into one of the most exciting electro-pop forces of the 21st century. Growing up in Chicago's northern suburbs, producer Kris 'Rain Man' Trindl started out playing in teen heavy metal bands, before convincing high school friend Jahan to quit her indie rock group and turn to dance music with him. Jahan's younger sister Yasmine later completed the line-up, and the trio grew from playing house parties to building a loyal local following with early EP 'Play Hard'. Their high octane mix of screeching dubstep chaos, new wave synths and heavy, distorted meltdowns converted into sweaty, raging live shows with the sisters' vocals leading audiences in mass frenzies. Tracks such as 'Killin' It' and 'Alive' captured their wild, positive spirit and they became regular fixtures at dance festivals including Ultra Music and Stereosonic. Landing a deal with Columbia Records, their debut album went on to reach number eight in the US charts in 2013, but soon after Trindl acrimoniously left the band and attempted to take legal action, though the case was eventually settled out of court. The sisters continued on with EPs 'Ammunition' and 'New World Part 1' and built a worldwide social media following before returning in 2018 with singles 'Alibi' and 'Runaway'.
