The US children's music group Kidz Bop is a concept by Razor & Tie co-founders Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam: children sing family-friendly cover versions of popular chart hits, including child-friendly lyrics. In addition to the expected teen pop fare from Britney Spears, Hilary Duff and Kelly Clarkson, Kidz Bop albums in the early 2000s also included more unconventional tracks such as "Do You Want To?" by Franz Ferdinand and "Float On" by Modest Mouse. Kidz Bop released their debut album Kidz Bop in 2001 and the scheme quickly became a success - since Kidz Bop, Vol. 7 in 2005, they have regularly featured in the American Billboard Top Ten. In total, they have sold more than 21 million albums, generated over 4.5 billion streams and expanded their range to include merchandising, music videos, tours and talent competitions. Kidz Bop are also successful in Germany, with Kidz Bop Deutschland (number 14 in the German charts) and Kidz Bop Deutschland 2 (number 36) being released in 2019. The third and fourth albums, Kidz Bop Party Playlist! (No. 10) and Kidz Bop 2021 (No. 20), were released in 2020. The fifth album, Kidz Bop All-Time Greatest Hits (No. 96), and the sixth album, Kidz Bop 2022 (No. 35), will be released in 2021. The songs will be sung by the German Kidz Bop Kids Evelyn, Kimi, Lahja and Leon.
