Katie Spencer

Yorkshire-born Katie Spencer is a British folk singer, songwriter and guitarist. Inspired by 1970s folk and artists such as John Martyn and Michael Chapman, she develops a personal style based on fingerpicking guitar playing and introspective songwriting. Following the release of the EP Soundtrack for a Short Film in 2016 and Good Morning Sky in 2017, she made a name for herself with her debut album Weather Beaten (2019), hailed for its acoustic warmth and poetic sensibility. In 2020 she released the live EP Live at Acoustic Roots, followed by Hurt in Your Heart in 2021 and the album The Edge of the Land in 2022. Her third studio album, What Love Is, confirms her position among the emerging artists of contemporary British folk, reaching No. 16 in the UK download charts.
