New Zealand roots reggae crew Katchafire originally converged as a Bob Marley tribute band in 2000 and took their name from The Wailers' debut album, Catch a Fire. Hailing from Hamilton, the eight-person group comprises Logan Bell (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Jordan Bell (drums, vocals), Wirremu Barribal (lead guitar), Tere Ngarua (bass), Roy Kaiki (keyboards, vocals) and Leon Davey (percussion, vocals). The double-platinum debut Revival, was released in 2003, peaked at Number 5 in New Zealand and produced the country's highest-selling single of 2002, "Giddy Up". Katchafire released their sophomore album, Slow Burning, in 2005 and in 2007 consolidated their sound on Say What You're Thinking. After revving up their reggae engines with On the Road Again in 2010, the band released their Best So Far compilation, collecting some of their career-shaping moments to date, in 2013. 2018 saw the release of the album Legacy, followed by the single "Circle Back" two years later. In 2026, Katchafire released Revival 2.0, featuring new versions of the songs from their first album.
