Kadim Jabbar Al Samarai, known as Kadim Al Sahir, was born on September 12, 1957, in Mosul, Iraq. He began his music career by teaching music in 1980 and later studied at the Institute of Music of Baghdad. In 1988, he gained popularity with compositions such as "Ladghat El-Hayya" and "Abart El-Shat". Al Sahir's career was temporarily halted by the Gulf War in 1990 but continued to release albums and tour extensively. Notable collaborations include partnerships with Nizar Qabbani, Quincy Jones, Sarah Brightman, and Lenny Kravitz. His album releases include Fi Madrsat Al Hob (1996) and Al Hob Mustaheel (2000). In 2004, he released the anti-war song "We Want Peace" with Lenny Kravitz. He has sold over 100 million albums and written more than 40 hit songs, including "Ana Wa Layla" (Me and Layla) and "Salamtak Men Al Ah" (Get Well Soon).
