Joywave

Known for their own albums as well as their appearance on Big Data's platinum-selling single "Dangerous," Joywave are an indie rock band from Rochester, New York. The group formed in 2010 and started releasing original in 2011, beginning with the mixtape 77777. The singles "Ridge" and "Traveling at the Speed of Light" were also released in 2011, followed by an EP, 2012's Koda Vista, and a mixtape, 2013's 88888. "Dangerous," a song by the electronic duo Big Data, arrived in 2013, featuring an appearance from Joywave and reaching Number 1on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. The song was a hit in Canada, where it went gold and reached number 75 on the Canadian Hot 100, as well as America, where it went platinum. The success led to a deal with Hollywood Records, under whose ownership Joywave formed their own label, Cultco Music. Their first full-length album for the label, How Do You Feel Now?, was released in 2015, with the singles "Tongues," "Somebody New," "Now," and "Destruction" all becoming Top 40 hits on Billboard Alternative Songs. 2017's Content and 2020's Possession both featured a pair of Top 40 singles, too. Clease reached number 46 on the UK Independent Albums chart in 2022, and the band's success in America continued with 2024's Permanent Pleasure, whose single "Scared" debuted at number 39 on Billboard Alternative Songs that summer.
