Born on November 19, 1973 in Cacalotán, Sinaloa, Jorge Medina began his musical journey honing his craft with local groups before stepping into the spotlight in late 1996 when René Camacho recruited him as the lead vocalist for his newly formed La Arrolladora Banda el Limón de René Camacho—an offshoot resulting from internal disputes within the original band. From that point through 2016, his emotive and slightly grainy tenor became the signature voice of the ensemble, contributing to numerous studio albums—including Se Me Cansó el Corazón (1997), Secretos de Mi Memoria (1999), Valió la Pena Equivocarme (2001), Huele a Peligro (2004), Y Que Quede Claro (2007), Más Adelante (2009), Todo Depende de Ti (2010), Irreversible…2012 (2012), Ojos en Blanco (2015), and Libre Otra Vez (2016)—records that consistently achieved high rankings on Regional Mexican charts, with several going platinum and yielding hit singles like “Se Me Cansó el Corazón,” “Valió la Pena Equivocarme,” “Cuánto Me Cuesta,” “Llamada de Mi Ex,” and “Ojos en Blanco.” During his tenure, the band scored 11 top-five albums, half of which reached Number 1, plus multiple top-15 Latin album placements, and Jorge Medina performed in an estimated 4,500 concerts across Mexico, Central America, and the United States. In mid-2016, after nearly two decades defining the Banda genre, he announced his departure from the group. Shortly thereafter, under the mentorship of producer Chuy Lizárraga, Jorge Medina launched a solo career in 2018 with the album ¿Así o Más Claro?, which featured lead singles like “Al Cien y Pasadito”—a song that notably spent 14 weeks atop the Mexican national chart—and drew on contributions from prominent songwriters such as Horacio Palencia, Edén Muñoz, Omar Tarazón, Max Peraza, and Espinoza Paz. This success was followed by other popular albums such Tres Vidas (2021), Secretos de Mi Memoria (Con Mariachi) (2022), and Me Vas a Comparar (2023). In 2025, Jorge Medina collaborated with Josi Cuen on the track "La Máquina del Tiempo."
