Johnny Venus

Olu, also known as Johnny Venus, is an American singer, rapper and songwriter, born Olu Onyemachi Dakarai Fann on October 9, 1989. Closely associated with Atlanta, Georgia, he met Eian Parker, later known as WowGr8 or Doctur Dot, while both were students in high school, and the pair formed EarthGang in 2008. The duo released The Better Party in 2010, followed by the 2011 mixtapes Mad Men and Good News, then developed their independent catalog through Spillage Village with projects including Shallow Graves for Toys in 2013, Torba in 2015 and Strays with Rabies in 2015. EarthGang signed with J. Cole’s Dreamville label in 2017 and released the EPs Rags, Robots and Royalty before joining Dreamville’s 2019 compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III. That same year, Olu and WowGr8 released EarthGang’s major-label album Mirrorland, followed by Spillage Village’s Spilligion in 2020 and EarthGang’s Ghetto Gods in 2022. After further group work, including Perfect Fantasy in 2024, Olu expanded his solo activity as Johnny Venus with “Good Cookin’” in 2024, Shooter - EP and “So Beautiful” in 2025, and “I Want You Back” in 2026. Released through Epic Records under exclusive license from SinceThe80s, “I Want You Back” moved his solo sound toward R&B and soul, with co-writing from Baby Tate and production by Dominique Sanders.
