Jay B

JB is the stage name of South Korean singer-songwriter and actor Lim Jae-beom (January 6, 1994). He is mostly known as a member of the boy bands Got7, Jus2, Offshore, and JJ Project. JB grew up in the city of Goyang and began b-boying in middle school, taking part in several competitions before being scouted by JYP Entertainment in 2009. After a successful audition, he was subsequently trained as an idol, first as a dancer and then as a singer. In 2011, he made his acting debut on the TV drama Dream High 2, where he adopted the nickname of JB to avoid being confused with singer Yim Jae-beom. His musical debut arrived in 2012 with the launch of musical duo JJ Project alongside fellow trainee Jin-young. Two years later, both artists debuted as members of the seven-member boy band Got7 with their first EP Got It? and their debut full-length Identify, both of which topped Gaon charts. The band’s success spawned a side project titled Jus2, a duo consisting of JB and Yugyeom. Focus, their first EP, saw the light in 2019 and peaked at Number 2 in South Korea. Following his departure from JYP Entertainment in 2021, JB kicked off his solo career with the single “Switch It Up,” featuring rapper Sokodomo. Produced by American rapper Cha Cha Malone, the track went to Number 6 on the Billboard R&B Digital Song Sales Chart.
