James Hype

UK music producer and DJ James Hype was born James E. Warsland on the Wirral Peninsula on 25 November 1989. Growing up in the Wirral, he began his musical career as a club DJ in nearby Liverpool and began working as a producer, turning in remixes of Drake's "Hotline Bling" and "Now and Later" by Sage the Gemini, among others. He released his debut single "Never Leave You" in 2015 and his second single, "I Wanna," the following year. James Hype's music is a mix of bass house, garage and tech, and he sometimes uses white noise in his tracks. Over the course of his career, the DJ has performed at festivals such as Parookaville in Weeze, Germany, and the World Club Dome in Frankfurt am Main. He has also played at clubs in Ibiza and performed at the UK's SSE Wembley Stadium and Echo Arena. He has produced remixes for other international artists such as Rita Ora and Bruno Mars. In the autumn of 2017, his single "More Than Friends" reached the top 10 in the UK and the top 30 in the singles charts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. A collaboration with Dots Per Inch and Ayak, the "I Was Lovin' You" single was shared in summer 2019 and reached number 92 in the UK charts. In February 2021, he dropped the single "Afraid" with Harlee while 2022 saw the release of the track "Say Yeah." He sampled Justin Timberlake's 2002 hit "Like I Love You" to score a Top 50 US dance hit of his own with Kim Petras on "Drums," which was released in October 2023.
