Jakob Hellman

Jakob Hellman (born 20 October 1965 in Sweden) is a Swedish pop-rock singer and songwriter who grew up in rural northern Sweden. After early performances with local bands such as Ampere and Fortune, he sent a demo to record companies in 1987 and subsequently signed with EMI Music. His debut single “Tåg” was released in 1988, followed by the album …och stora havet on 13 February 1989, which included the hit single “Vara vänner”; the album sold over 160 000 copies and earned him a Grammis Award for Best Newcomer in 1989. After a long hiatus, Hellman returned with the release Big-5 : Jakob Hellman in 2010, participated in the television show Så mycket bättre in 2020, and released his second studio album Äntligen borta on 8 January 2021, followed by a live acoustic release Live från Palma in June 2021. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with artists such as Nina Ramsby and participated in tribute albums for Olle Adolphson and Evert Taube, and his work remained a reference point in Swedish pop-rock through continued touring and occasional releases.
