Kent

Kent is a Swedish alternative rock band formed in 1990 in Eskilstuna by Joakim Berg, Martin Sköld, Sami Sirviö and Markus Mustonen. Originally named Jones & Giftet, they changed to Kent in 1993 and released their debut album Kent in 1995. Their 1996 album Verkligen, featuring the hit « Kräm », marked their breakthrough in Sweden. Isola (1997) and Hagnesta Hill (1999) followed, with English-language versions aiming for international success. Vapen & ammunition (2002) became a massive hit, cementing their popularity. They evolved toward a more synth-driven sound with Tillbaka till samtiden (2007) and Röd (2009), releasing several chart-topping albums. Their final album Då som nu för alltid appeared in 2016, followed by a farewell tour. After disbanding, Joakim Berg launched a solo career. In March 2025, Kent reunited for six sold-out concerts at Stockholm’s 3Arena, setting an attendance record. Known for combining introspective lyrics with evolving styles, Kent became Scandinavia’s most successful rock band.
