Jackson Wang

Jackson Wang (王嘉爾), singer, rapper, producer, stylist and music video director, was born on March 28, 1994 in Hong Kong. His parents were both athletes, and like his father, he was destined to become a fencer. However, another path opened up for him in music when, in 2010, at the age of sixteen, he was recruited by the South Korean talent agency JYP Entertainment. In the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics, he was offered a scholarship to Stanford to practice fencing, but chose to move to Seoul to give his music career a chance. This turned professional when he joined a new K-pop group, Got7. At the dawn of 2014, the group released their first single, "Girls Girls Girls", and an EP, Got It? The young singer increased his popularity by taking part in numerous TV shows, such as Roommate and Star King, before making his first appearance on Chinese TV, when he presented Go Fridge, for which he composed and performed the theme song. He multiplied his musical collaborations, appearing alongside Tia Ray on "Lucky Rain", Sammi Cheng on "Creo en Mi" and Fei on "Hello" in 2018. His popularity then allowed him to go solo. He released his first album, Mirrors, in 2019, which enjoyed considerable international success, reaching number 32 in the United States. The same year, he appeared alongside GoldLink on "Rumble" and Boy Story on "Too Busy " in 2019. In 2021, he took part in the Panthepack group, with Karencici, Ice and J.Sheon, who produced the album The Pack released the same year. The following year, he released the mixtape Lost & Found, followed by a new album, Magic Man (2022), which continued his ascent. The opus, promoted by the singles "Blow" and "Cruel ", reached number 15 on the Billboard 200 and number 46 in his home country. At the end of the year, Wang embarked on a world tour, from Asia to America via Europe, then collaborated with Ciara on "Slow" (2023). Fatigue and depression forced him to step away from the stage for several months, before reappearing at the Coachella festival, where he and Bibi presented their track "Feeling Lucky". August 2025 saw the release of his third studio album, Magicman 2, featuring the singles "High Alone", "GBAD" (remixed by Number_i and ranked #13 in Japan), "Buck" with Diljit Dosanjh (#31 in the UK Asian charts) and "Hate to Love". The album, a blend of alternative R&B, hip hop, neo soul and downtempo, reached No. 13 on the Billboard 200 upon its release.
