Iron Mike Norton

Michael Shaun Norton, known professionally as Iron Mike Norton, was born on October 20, 1973, in Fort Gordon, Georgia. He started his career as a session bass player in the Tampa Bay area heavy metal scene and later worked as a roadie for country music acts. In 1997, he met Sonny Landreth and began learning slide guitar, developing a technique that included many of Landreth’s pioneering methods. Prior to 2005, Norton toured and performed as Michael Shaun Norton. He has collaborated with notable artists such as Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Eric Sardinas, Rob Zombie, The Outlaws, Waylon Jennings, and Wynonna. His notable albums include Sledge (2007), Dirty South (2011), Bad Monkey (2012), Bloody Knuckles (2013), Box Fulla Bones (2015), and Swamp Stomp (2017).
