London-born Illian Walker, known professionally as Ils, emerged as a British electronic music producer whose early work reflected a blend of electro, funk, and techno influences. He began producing on Good Looking Records, a drum and bass label founded by LTJâ¯Bukem, before being signed by Adamâ¯Freeland to Marine Parade, where his distinctive breakbeat style attracted attention. His breakthrough came with the single "Next Level" in Februaryâ¯2002, which reached number 75 on the UK Singles Chart. The same year, Soul Trader was released, expanding his catalogue and solidifying his presence on Marine Parade and Distinct'ive Records. Subsequent releases, including Y4K and Bohemia (2005), showcased collaborations with emerging artists and maintained his relevance in the electronic scene.
