Californian rapper Marcus Hopson is best known by his stage name Hopsin and was born in Los Angeles in 1985. Brought up in an Hispanic neighbourhood, Hopsin immersed himself in the local skateboarding culture and his passion for the sport has continued with many of his videos featuring him in action on a skateboard. After dropping out of school and spending a year in prison he began to look to hip-hop and rap for direction and cites Eminem as an early influence. With five studio albums to his credit Hopsin has enjoyed a successful career as a rapper and has also tried to make a name for himself as an actor having appeared in a number of TV and film productions. A measure of his popularity as a artist can be gauged by the success of his YouTube channel and in particular a series of videos titled 'Ill Mind of Hopsin' which have garnered over 50 million views.
