Grigoris Bithikotsis (ÎÏηγÏÏÎ·Ï ÎÏιθικÏÏÏηÏ) was a Greek singer. Raised in a poor family in Athens, he taught himself to play the bouzouki and gained significant popularity in the 1950s with his laiko singing style, a refined form of rembetiko. His breakthrough came through his collaboration with Mikis Theodorakis on Epitaphios, based on poems by Yannis Ritsos, which brought him widespread recognition. Bithikotsis also composed successful songs such as "ÎμÏιβολίεÏ." In 2003, he received the Golden Cross of the Order of the Phoenix and the Golden Medal of the City of Athens. He died on April 7, 2005, in Athens, Greece.
