(G)I-DLE

(G)I-DLE is a Korean pop group that surged onto the international stage with the debut EP I Am in 2018. The girl group was formed earlier than year in Seoul, South Korea, with singers Miyeon, Minnie, Soojin, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua forming the initial lineup. I Am reached number 13 on the Gaon Album Chart and peaked at number 5 on the Billboard World Album Chart, its success boosted by the Top 20 single "Latata." The follow-up single "Hann (Alone)" fared even better, reaching umber 2 on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales Chart. Both songs were written and co-produced by Soyeon, who quickly emerged as (G)I-DLE's leader. Before 2018 came to a close, Soyeon and Miyeon earned a Number 1 hit on the World Digital Songs chart with "Pop/Stars," a collaboration with American artists Madison Beer and Jaira Burns. Released under the name K/DA, the song was certified gold in America. Back overseas, (G)I-DLE's second EP, I Maden, arrived in 2019 and charted at umber 2 in South Korea, with 2020's I Trust reaching Number 1. (G)I-DLE also broke into the Japanese market with the Latata nEP, which featured Japanese versions of the group's K-pop hits and hit umber 5 on the Oricon Albums Chart. Soyeon and Miyeon charted two more Number 1 hits on the World Digital Songs chart with K/DA's "The Baddest" and "More," both of which were released in 2020, and (G)I-DLE later earned a Number 1 hit of its own with "Tomboy." Released in 2022, "Tomboy" topped the Gaon Digital Chart and the K-pop Hot 100. It also doubled as the first single from the group's first full-length album, 2022's I Never Die, which reached number 2 in South Korea and number 13 on the US World Albums chart. (G)I-DLE followed this with triple platinum EPs I Love (2022) and I Feel (2023), collaborating with 88rising on an all-English EP Heat, which was released in October, preceded by lead single "I Do." The EP reached number 2 in Korea and 25 in the United States. In January 2024, the group unveiled their second complete studio album, named 2, which went straight to the top of the charts, supported by top 20 singles "Wife" and "Super Lady."
