George Wassouf

George Wassouf, born on December 23, 1961 in Kafroun, Syria, is a singer known for his contributions to Arabic music. He began performing at age six, singing classic songs by Oum Kalsoum and Warda at weddings. His breakthrough came after appearing on the Lebanese television show Studio El Fan. Wassouf released his debut album, "Tirghally", in 1976, followed by numerous albums including Lisa El Dounia Bikheer (1997), Inta Gheirhom (2002). His music blends classical orchestration with modern arrangements. Despite legal issues in 2008 and health problems in 2011, Wassouf continued performing, including notable concerts at the Mawazine festival in Rabat, Morocco (2009), and his first performance in Kurdistan, Iraq (2019).
