FTIsland

FT Island are a South Korean pop band whose music errs towards the rockier side of K-pop. The group is comprised of vocalist and frontman Lee Hong-gi, Lee Jae-jin on bass, Song Seung-hyun on guitar and drummer Choi Min-hwan. The band started out as a five-piece until their enigmatic keyboard player and guitarist Choi Jong-hoon announced his retirement from the music industry in 2009. They made their TV debut in 2007 on the popular South Korean music show 'M! Countdown' and immediately caught the imagination of the country's teenage pop fans. They are now considered to be South Korea's first so-called 'idol' band following the trend set in Japan for creating bands with squeaky-clean public personas who appeal to fanatical teen audiences. FT Island paved the way for a new style of music and inspired other idol bands, such as label-mates N.Flying, to follow their lead. The group have enjoyed an impressive string of hit albums and singles recorded in both Korean and Japanese but are best known for their chart topping singles 'Love Sick', 'Thunder', 'Until You Come Back' and 'Love, Love, Love'.
