Finntroll

Metal from Northern Europe is particularly inventive. Finntroll is no exception, blending the darkness of death metal with Finnish folk themes. Formed in 1997 in Helsinki, Finntroll has had a turbulent career, with the tragic loss of a guitarist and the serious illness of its lead singer. However, this did not prevent Finntroll from delivering Midnattens Widunder (1999), Jaktens Tid (2001), Nattfödd (2004) and Ur Jordens Djup (2007). Despite the obstacle posed by their use of Finnish rather than English in their lyrics, Finntroll have managed to make a name for themselves internationally. The world tour that followed the release of Nifelvind in 2010 is a vivid reflection of this.
