FictionJunction

FictionJunction is the solo music project of Japanese composer Yuki Kajiura, founded on the concept of collaborating with various vocalists to create new musical expressions. The project began in 2003 under the name FictionJunction YUUKA, with singer Yuuka Nanri, and gradually expanded to include multiple singers such as KEIKO, KAORI, WAKANA, ASUKA, and others, each credited under the “FictionJunction + name” format. These collaborations accompanied Kajiura’s work on anime soundtracks, including Tsubasa Chronicle, Elemental Gelade, and Fist of the North Star: Yuria Den. KEIKO and WAKANA later joined her other project, Kalafina. In 2009, Kajiura unified all her vocalist collaborations under the name FictionJunction, which continued as a flexible, rotating collective releasing music through Flying Dog. After leaving Space Craft in 2018, she established her own label, FictionJunction Music. Vocalist Joelle began participating regularly in live performances, and new releases sometimes reverted to the original “FictionJunction feat. [vocalist]” naming style, including the notable single "from the edge"(2019) featuring LiSA. The 2023 release of the single "Distance/eternal blue" followed the introduction of new vocalists LINO LEIA and rito, discovered through an audition held in 2022, signaling a continued evolution of the project’s signature collaborative style.
