Eyedea & Abilities was an American hip-hop duo formed in 1999 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The ensemble consisted of rapper Micheal Larsen, known as Eyedea, and Gregory Keltgen, known as DJ Abilities. Larsen became known in the Midwest hip-hop circuit for his victory at the âBlaze Battleâ before the duo released its debut studio album, First Born, in 2001. The group signed with Rhymesayers Entertainment and released the album E&A in 2004. Following a hiatus, the ensemble returned in 2007 and performed the Appetite For Distraction Tour. The duo released the album By the Throat in 2009 and collaborated with artists including Aesop Rock and Sage Francis. The group received a star on the mural of the First Avenue nightclub in Minneapolis. Larsen died on October 16, 2010. The duo released the posthumous album Grandâs Sixth Sense in 2011, which contained material recorded during the 1990s. Eyedea & Abilities became inactive in 2010.
