Die Wochenshow is a German comedy television series that aired on Sat.1 from 1996 to 2002. The show parodies current social and political events in the form of sketches and fictional news reports. The main actors and actresses are Anke Engelke, Bastian Pastewka, Ingolf Lück, Marco Rima, Markus Maria Profitlich, Annette Frier, Michael Kessler and citizen Lars Dietrich. The series is produced by Brainpool TV and reaches a wide audience in its heyday. In 1998, the album Best Of is released with 24 tracks, including "Ricky's Popsofa - Götz George", "Sex TV - Möbel" and "Brisko Schneider - Schmusi Musi". The album is released by PolyGram and contains a selection of the show's most popular sketches and parodies. This is followed in 2005 by the release of Die Wochenshow: Die fetten Jahre, Vol. 1. Both albums belong to the comedy genre and reflect the satirical style of the TV series. Die Wochenshow receives several awards, including the Adolf Grimme Award (1999), the German Comedy Award for Best Comedy Show (1999), the Golden Camera Audience Award for Anke Engelke (1999) and the Golden Romy for Best Program Idea (1999).
