Delainey Doucha Barber, known as Del Barber, was born on October 14, 1983 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He began playing guitar at a young age and by sixteen was writing music and performing with different bands. His first self-recorded album gained local popularity. Barber's career advanced with the release of Where the City Ends in 2010, which received critical acclaim and nominations for Roots Solo Album of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards. In 2011, he was nominated for a Juno Award for Love Songs For The Last 20. He signed with Six Shooter Records in 2012, releasing Headwaters, which won him the Roots Solo Recording of the Year award at the Western Canadian Music Awards.
