Cryptopsy, a Canadian death metal band from Montreal, Quebec, was formed in 1988 by Mike Atkin on drums, Steve Thibault on guitar, and Dan Greening (later known as Lord Worm) on vocals. Initially named Necrosis, the group released several demos before changing their name to Cryptopsy in 1992. Their first album, Blasphemy Made Flesh, was released in 1994 under Invasion Records, marking a significant breakthrough for the band. The album garnered attention within the death metal underground and led to tours and label changes, including a stint with Displeased Records. In 1998, Cryptopsy signed with Century Media Records and released Whisper Supremacy, which featured elements of jazz and fusion. Subsequent albums included ...And Then You'll Beg (2000) and Once Was Not (2005). The band has sold over Three Hundred Thousand copies worldwide and is known for their technical death metal sound.
