Corazón Serrano, founded in 1993 in Pacaipampa, Piura, Peru, by the Guerrero Neyra siblings, began as a family ensemble blending northern Peruvian cumbia with Ecuadorian sanjuanito rhythms. Their early breakthrough came with the 1996 cover of "Alitas Quebradas," leading to their first Lima concert in 1997 and a national television debut in 1998. The 2000s saw the release of albums like Quiéreme Sin Condición (1999) and Mujercita Buena (2001), solidifying their presence in the Peruvian cumbia scene. A pivotal moment occurred in 2010 with the addition of Lesly Águila and the release of "Tu Ausencia," which gained widespread popularity through Radio Karibeña. The group's 20th anniversary in 2013 was marked by the hit "Cuatro Mentiras" and a significant expansion of their fanbase. Despite the tragic loss of lead vocalist Edita Guerrero in 2014, Corazón Serrano continued to evolve, introducing new talents like Susana Alvarado in 2015 and releasing albums such as Late Más Fuerte (2015) and Tan Solo Tú (2021). Their 30th anniversary in 2023 was celebrated with the live album Nuestros 30 Años (En Vivo), featuring performances by new members including Kiara Lozano and Briela Cirilo. In 2024, the group signed with Sony Music, releasing "Empecemos de Cero" and re-recording classic hits for the Recuerdos del Corazón series. The following year, they welcomed Cielo Fernández during their 32nd-anniversary concert at Estadio San Marcos, showcasing collaborations with artists like Miriam Cruz and Grupo Beren.
