Comeback Kid

Comeback Kid is a Canadian hardcore punk band formed in 2001 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, by Andrew Neufeld (guitar), Jeremy Hiebert (guitar) and Scott Wade (vocals), originally from the band Figure Four. The band quickly made a name for themselves with their raw energy and blend of traditional hardcore with melodic elements, becoming a major reference in the modern hardcore scene. Their debut album Turn It Around (2003), released on Facedown Records, laid the foundations for their sound, followed by Wake the Dead (2005), acclaimed for its powerful riffs and catchy choruses, which cemented their international reputation. After the departure of singer Scott Wade in 2006, Andrew Neufeld, previously guitarist, became lead singer. The band continued their career with Broadcasting... (2007), then Symptoms + Cures (2010), which marks an evolution towards a more technical and varied sound, without losing their initial intensity. Their fifth album, Die Knowing (2014), confirms their position in global hardcore, followed by Outsider (2017), darker and more massive, and Heavy Steps (2022), a return to their roots with modern production. The band then releases two singles, "Trouble in the Winners Circle" in 2023 and "Disruption" in 2024, as well as a 20th anniversary version of the track "Wake the Dead". Matthew Keil, bassist from 2008 to 2014 before being replaced by Ron Friesen, dies of a neurodegenerative disease. The announcement is made by his family on July 14, 2025.
