Classic Example is an American contemporary R&B group active in the early 1990s, made up of Darin Campbell, Gerald Alston, Jami Thomson, Marvin Harris and Robert Rose. The group signed to Hollywood Records and released a single self-titled album in July 1992, produced by Cecil Holmes and Maurice Starr. Their biggest hit was the single "It's Alright", co-written by Khiry and Tajh Abdulsamad (of The Boys) and produced by Khiry Abdulsamad. The track is also included on the soundtrack to the film South Central (1992). " It's Alright" reaches #68 on the Billboard Hot 100, #53 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and #30 on the Rhythmic Top 40, spending 16 weeks on the charts. In 1993, the group released a second single, "I Do Care", which failed to enter the charts. The album also contains a number of covers, including Cherrelle's "Where Do I Run To" and a version of the traditional song "Lift Every Voice and Sing". Despite a promising start, the album failed to chart in the U.S., and the band broke up shortly afterwards, leaving only one studio album and a modest Billboard hit.
