Christine Lavin, born on January 2, 1952, is an American singer-songwriter known for her contributions to contemporary folk music. She began her career working at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, New York, before moving to New York City on the advice of Dave Van Ronk, who also offered her guitar lessons. Lavin's album, Absolutely Live, was released in 1981, marking the start of a prolific career that includes numerous solo albums and collaborations. In 1990, she was a founding member of the group Four Bitchin' Babes. Throughout her career, Lavin has been recognized with several awards, including the ASCAP 43rd Annual Deems Taylor Award in 2011 for her book Cold Pizza for Breakfast: A Mem-Wha??. She also released the album On My Way to Hooterville in 2020.
