Chaos in the CBD is the New Zealand-born, UK-based electronic music duo comprised of brothers Ben Helliker-Hales and Louis Helliker-Hales. Known for their deeply atmospheric and emotive take on house music, the pair have carved out a distinctive niche that blends classic deep house grooves with jazz-infused textures and percussive finesse. Since relocating to London, Chaos in the CBD have become a respected force in the underground scene, releasing on esteemed labels like In Dust We Trust (their own imprint), Rhythm Section International, and Mule Musiq. Their sound—often warm, soulful, and rhythmically rich—reflects both a reverence for the roots of house music and a forward-thinking approach to production. With acclaimed EPs like 2015's Midnight in Peckham and 2019's Hydrate, as well as immersive DJ sets across the globe, Chaos in the CBD continue to inspire a generation of listeners and dancers alike with their deeply musical and emotionally resonant style. In May 2025, they translated their knack for jazzy, groove-laden electronica into their debut album, A Deeper Life, which featured vocals from Novelist, Josh Milan, and more.
