Ce Ce Peniston

Cecilia Veronica "CeCe" Peniston, born on September 6, 1969, in Dayton, Ohio, is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. Raised primarily in Phoenix, Arizona, Peniston began singing at church and participating in local talent shows from a young age. Her music career commenced in January 1991 when she recorded backup vocals for Tonya Davis, known as Overweight Pooch, on the album Female Preacher. This collaboration led to her debut single "Finally", which became a significant breakthrough, reaching Number 5 on the US Hot 100 and Number 2 in the UK. Peniston's first studio album, Finally, was released in January 1992, followed by Thought 'Ya Knew in January 1994, I'm Movin' On in September 1996, and Celebratex (best of remix album) in June 2012. Her signature song "Finally" topped the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart for five consecutive weeks. Peniston has performed at high-profile events, including Aretha Franklin's private birthday party, Pope John Paul II’s inauguration ceremony, and both of Bill Clinton's presidential inaugurations. She was also the first foreign female entertainer to perform in post-apartheid South Africa. In February 2011, she signed with West Swagg Music Group / Bungalo Records under Universal Music Group Distribution. Peniston has been recognized by Billboard magazine as one of the Top Dance Club Artists of All Time, ranking at Number 52.
