Ãsbjörn Kristinsson Morthens, known professionally as Bubbi Morthens, was born on June 6, 1956, in ReykjavÃk, Iceland. He is a singer and songwriter who has been active in the Icelandic music scene since the 1980s. His first album, Ãsbjarnarblús, was released in 1980. Morthens gained attention with subsequent albums such as Plágan (1981) and Fingraför (1983). Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he continued to release a steady stream of albums, including Ný spor (1984), Kona (1986), and Serbian Flower (1988). Morthens has also been a member of various bands, notably Utangarðsmenn and Egó. In 2004, the documentary Blindsker, chronicling his life, was released. His later works include albums like Regnbogans stræti (2019) and Ljós og Skuggar (2023). Morthens has also authored several poetry books, including Net (2008) and Rof (2018).
