Formed in 2003 in Palatine, Illinois, the band, led by singer Ronnie Canizaro, went by the name Diminished, before changing to Your Heart Engraved until 2006, and then Rosecrance until 2007, when they opted for Born of Osiris. Following in the footsteps of progressive metalcore and then deathcore, the band, who take the Egyptian god of rebirth and transformation at the heart of their lyrics, signed to Sumerian Records and recorded the EP The New Reign (2007), followed by the albums A Higher Place (2009) and The Discovery (2011). Combining sharp guitar technique with keyboards and unpredictable structures, Born of Osiris renewed itself with the albums Tomorrow We Die ∆live (2013), considered the most accessible and melodic, then Soul Sphere (2015) and The Simulation (2019), which introduced more modern sounds. Surrounded by drummer Cameron Losch since the early days, Ronnie Canizaro multiplied the number of instrumentalists over the years, before hiring bassist Nick Rossi in 2018, who then developed his style on rhythm and lead guitar and keyboards. With his contribution, the album Angel or Alien (2021) proves to be an ambitious and dense, more introspective record, before the release of Through Shadows in 2025.
